What should you do when you’re ready to quit? Think it over carefully! Remember why you started your business in the first place. Was it for extra cash? Did you want to do something different than what you were already doing? Maybe you felt like you could make a difference in somebody else’s life. Regardless of why you started, you must have believed it was something you could do. Am I right?
I have a friend who has a Master’s degree in Science. While he was in school working on attaining his Masters, he thought about quitting after failing the final exam twice. The university only allows a student to take the exam two times. Now, he could have just walked away and said to himself, “It’s just not meant to be! I have a Bachelor’s degree. I’m working in a lab making decent money. I’m okay!” But, he didnt do that! He decided he was going to finish what he started. He petitioned to be allowed to take the exam one more time. At first they told him no, but because he was persistent in his petition, eventually they permitted him to take the exam one more time. Now he has his dream job living the life he always imagined.
You started a business because you wanted something different in your life. Don’t let the challenges of growing and sustaining a business stop you from living the life you imagined for yourself. When you’re ready to quit, ask yourself these three questions:
1. Am I satisfied with my current financial situation?
2. Am I satisfied with working for someone else?
3. Am I satisfied with my LIFE?
